Vital Diabetes Awareness, Dental Care & Community Support
On our trip to Gunu Village, Fiji in 2015, the Global Ripple team saw first hand the devastating effects of diabetes linked to high sugar intake resulting in heart and blood pressure issues, amputated limbs and extreme tooth decay. We employed a local teacher, Ray Natathy, to facilitate our health and nutrition awareness programme within the village. In this 3 stage programme, Ray was working directly with the children at Gaunavou Primary School, conducting development classes with the teachers and one on one with each family within the village helping them to make informed choices…knowledge is power!
We also continue to run a dental health care program, available for any of the remote villagers with dental issues. This program helps the community have their teeth issues addressed.
The program has been a successful journey of love. Many people lined up to have their teeth fixed at the hospital on the mainland with thankful people from all over.
Help enable us to continue our work.
